The 330-km submarine fiber optic cable system comprises two segments, with a total length of 330 km. One connects Boracay and Caticlan; the other connects Taytay, Palawan, and San Jose, Mindoro, with a branching unit towards the island of Coron.

BPSCS project is part of a national transmission backbone network project by Philippine telecom operator Globe. The timely completion of the submarine part is of great significant for the entire construction. Entire backbone network will cost 700 million dollars, from the north of Aparri to the south of Zamboanga, spread nearly 30,0000 kilometers, which will extend to other areas in the future.

The system-wide upgrade has seen a DWDM-based infrastructure and fiber replace SDH microwave equipment in Palawan, which makes that Boracay and Taytay Island enter the fiber optic era. Through pushing the development of the business and tourism in the region to stimulate economic growth. This submarine has 12 pairs of fiber design capacity of 19.2Tbs, each ware 40G (it may expand to 100G in the future), which will provide sufficient bandwidth to support 3.5/HSPA 4G LTE mobile broadband networks and other data communication needs.

Successful installation of BPSCS submarine cable must overcome harsh natural conditions and strict environmental protection. Through the good cooperation with the Globe and the extensive experience in offshore construction, Huawei finally get the task done, proving once again Huawei Marine professional construction capacity.

"The system will allow for the deployment of cutting edge communications service for the people, businesses and institutions of this country, " said Nigel Bayliff, CEO of Huawei Marine. "We are pleased and honored to have played a critical part in Globe's wider strategic program and look forward to building upon this trusted partnership that resulted in our joint success. I would like to thank Google for trusting Huawei Marine to install this turnkey network. Our teams have worked closely throughout the project to optimize the solution and deliver the system to the customer's requirements."
