HUAC-GWDC Hosts its 5th Annual VIP Fundraiser Reception and Discussion with Isaiah Washington
Evening to include cocktails and conversation with Howard University Alumnus and former star of Grey's Anatomy, Isaiah Washington, and a welcome to the new club president.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) September 17, 2011 - Howard University Alumni Club - Greater Washington DC (HUAC-GWDC), announced today its participation in the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Legislative Conference with its annual discussion and VIP reception. The evening's festivities will commence on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm at the Lamont Bishop Gallery located at 1314 9th Street in Northwest Washington, DC.
The evening will begin with cocktails and crudities and an introduction of the new Howard University Alumni Club - Greater Washington DC president, Erin Horne Montgomery. Participants will also have the opportunity view the latest artist, Demont "Peekaso" Pinder, whose work is currently featured in the gallery.
Actor, philanthropist, and Howard University alumnus, Isaiah Washington will then sit down for an in depth conversation with Howard University Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Chair of the Department of Afro-American Studies, Dr. Greg E. Carr, to discuss his new book "A Man From Another Land" and how filling in the gaps of his past led him to discover a new passion: helping those less fortunate. A meet & greet and booking signing with Mr. Washington will immediately follow and conclude the event.

"This is an exciting time for Howard University, the Howard University Alumni Association, and the Washington metro area and the HUAC-GWDC plans to be integral part of the history-making growth that's taking place while continuing to support our community with legacy of excellence."
The reception, which is free and open to the public, will also provide an opportunity for guests to learn more about the HUAC-GWDC and its mission to provide multi-level University support by serving Howard University students and the community and by ensuring a visible, viable, vital organization that embraces the spirit of excellence.
A percentage of sales from each book purchased at the event will go towards the HUAC-GWDC student scholarship program.
