Howard Christensen Nature Center Summer Pledge Drive
As a nonprofit we rely heavily on donations, programming and field trips to keep our doors open and lights on for the public! HCNC is currently underway with the Summer 2015 Pledge Drive to help fund our low cost community events to remain accessible to all and continue reaching out!
- (1888PressRelease) June 11, 2015 - HCNC recently launched a brand new and easily navigated website to expand our reach and share more about how the community can get involved. Are you an outdoor enthusiast? Looking for weekend fun or an extracurricular class that is beneficial to the whole family? Perhaps you're interested in getting the kiddos into a summer camp that will teach them skills they will never lose. Check out HCNC and how we can fulfill all those areas with you!
Howard Christensen Nature Center, nestled among 135 acres of natural area, swamps, bogs and highlands, has been the center of Kent County field trips for 40 years. Now, in 2015, many changes have been seen since that first bus arrived but our core mission remains the same. Inspirational leadership and excellences to advance all walks of life; to give back to nature while receiving its benefits; learning to love nature's beauty too mankind-mentally, spiritually and physically!
HCNC is alive and well. Not only does the center still accommodate more than 5,000 students a year on field trips, but we have added community programming to the calendar as well. Over 60 events and classes open to anyone have become a popular family outing at HCNC. We currently reach 6 intermediate school districts with field trips, provide classes and training for dozens of areas of interest and also rent out our banquet hall as well as our recently added campground and retreat center. The trails at Howard Christensen are open to the public daily from dawn to dusk and the center provides 24 hour restrooms for our visiting supporters.
