"You don't have to be a designer to create a beautiful, tasteful home. And a lot of homeowners have beautifully painted interiors and deserve to show them off to the world - not just to their family members and friends," explains Yelena Kublitski, editor and owner of HousePaintingTutorials.com. "I wanted to host a contest where people could demonstrate their skillful use of color and its power to transform a living space. So anyone who has color on the walls and is proud of how their home looks can submit a photo of the room along with a description of the painting project."
Kublitski wants participants to share such details about their painting idea as the source of color inspiration, the mood/style they were trying to create, the name and brand of the paint color used, and any practical tips or advice for others who might want to attempt to copy the look.
"We can all learn from one another this way - from potential pitfalls and mistakes to avoid, to the shortcuts and workarounds that were discovered during the project. Because both negative and positive experience is equally valuable if it's shared for other people to benefit from," says Kublitski.
HousePaintingTutorials.com was created to educate homeowners about different aspects of house painting and help them make better choices when it comes to protecting and beautifying their homes.
It features guides to choosing paint colors and composing room color schemes, DIY painting tutorials, and project inspiration. By hosting the contest, Yelena Kublitski is also hoping to expand her website's already extensive collection of creative home painting ideas submitted by visitors. She says: "At the end of the contest, all entries will be organized by paint color to make it easier for my site visitors to find exactly what they are looking for."
The deadline for the Room Painting Idea Contest submissions is May 31. The voting will continue through June 17, and the winner will be announced on June 19.
