The sleepy community of Raven, nestled comfortably on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, is subjected to a terrifying storm that awakens a slumbering malignant nightmare.
Jeff Hanks seeks out the welcoming tranquility of Raven, hoping it will ease his grieving mind, but what he discovers is a town slowly being ravaged by an unspeakable evil. Slaughtered animals litter the moors; peculiar hairless creatures are seen on CCTV, and something dark, ancient and abhorrent lurks inside the old mausoleum on top of Raven Hill.
As worlds collide, Hanks finds not only his faith stretched to breaking point, but his very sanity threatened by a being that can enter human minds at will, bringing your desires to flesh, and making your deepest, darkest fears a terrible reality.
Excerpt from the book:
“We think there might be something in the mausoleum on top of Raven Hill,’ Franklin explained, ‘something . . . I don’t know . . . something ancient and incredibly evil. It can’t get out, but it wants out, if you understand me.’
Julia had regarded them silently for a moment before answering. ‘I think I understand,’ she’d replied, ‘in fact, I’ve been dreaming about that place, and those dreams have not been pleasant.’ She gestured to a table and chairs in the living room and told them to sit. She’d then drawn the curtains and sat down herself, at the head of the table. And the séance began.
‘I can’t bre . . . (gasp) . . . I can’t bre . . .’
Jeff watched as Julia’s chest heaved up and down and her fingers became clawed on the tabletop. Her crimson nails scratched and tapped a jittery tattoo on the wood. Franklin opened his eyes and gave Jeff a searching look that silently asked: Is she ok?
Nodding, Jeff raised a finger to his lips, indicating that they shouldn’t interrupt her.”
