Hong Kong Updates Safety Standard Compliance List for Toys and Children’s Products
A look at the new standards listed as demonstrating conformity with Hong Kong’s Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance.
- (1888PressRelease) March 19, 2021 - Hong Kong has amended its list of standards that demonstrate conformity with the Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance.
‘Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance (Amendment of Schedules 1 and 2) Notice 2021’, announced in a press release of February 19, 2021, covers two standards for toys and three standards for children’s products.
The new standards that demonstrate conformity are:
• Toys: ISO 8124-3:2020
• Toys: BS EN 71-7:2014+A3:2020
• Bunk beds for domestic use: ASTM F1427-19
• Children’s highchairs and multi-purpose highchairs for domestic use: BS EN 14988:2017+A1:2020
• Children's paints: ISO 8124-3:2020
Toys and children’s products offered onto the market in Hong Kong are obliged to comply with all applicable requirements in any one of the safety standards specified in Schedules 1 (Toy Standards) and 2 (Products Standard) to the Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance.
These changes will come into force on October 1, 2021.
