Hon Hai Seeks Injunction, Damages Against Suyin For Infringement of Five U.S. Patents

(1888PressRelease) October 19, 2010 - TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd. ("Hon Hai") announced today that it has filed claims for patent infringement against Suyin Co. Ltd. and Suyin USA ("Suyin") with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Hon Hai seeks monetary damages, injunctive relief and attorneys' fees.

On October 15, 2010, Hon Hai filed a complaint with the District Court seeking affirmative relief based upon Suyin's alleged infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 5,882, 211 ("System for Arranging a Pair of Connectors") (the '211 Patent); 6,530,798 ("Ball Grid Array Socket Connector") (the '798 Patent); 6,623,277 ("Power Connector") (the '277 Patent); 6,679,717 ("Electrical Connector with Anti-Mis-matching Mechanism") (the '717 Patent); and 6,695,644 ("Power Connector Having Improved Contact") (the '644 Patent) (collectively, the "Hon Hai Patents").

Hon Hai asserts, among other things, that a number of Suyin connector products infringe the above Hon Hai Patents. The accused products include at least six models of Suyin DDR and DIMM sockets that are alleged to infringe the '211 Patent; a 989 pin CPU core that is alleged to infringe the '798 and '717 Patents; and a DC power connector that is alleged to infringe the '277 and '644 Patents.
