  • St. Louis, MO-IL (1888PressRelease) November 27, 2011 - It only takes 5 minutes to make the holidays brighter for a foster child and give them the experience of a first bike, a new doll, or even a trip to the Fox Theater. The Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition calls upon the St. Louis community to help grant 3,300 Little Wishes before December 21st to ensure the children in foster care receive their holiday gift in time for Christmas. Anyone can grant a Little Wish right now by visiting http://www.littlewishes.net, http://www.ksdk.com, or calling 800.FOSTER.3.

A program of the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition, Little Wishes, in partnership with KSDK NewsChannel 5, raises donations from the public to grant the holiday wishes of Metro St. Louis children in foster care and make their holidays brighter while they are in foster care dreaming of that Big Wish… a forever family. In 2010, one child in foster care wrote to a donor, "Little Wishes shows me that I am loved by other people." The Coalition wants St. Louisans to know that granting a Little Wish truly makes a difference in the lives of children who are without their families during the holidays.

Residents can choose from thousands of Wishes and make their selection based on a child's name, age, price, or gift. After their purchase, they will receive a card in the mail. The Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition suggests Wish Granters consider donating in honor of a loved one, and presenting the card to them as a holiday gift.

The Coalition also announces that St. Louisans can also shop for a Little Wish with KSDK NewsChannel 5 personalities on December 3rd. Residents can visit Walmart in Kirkwood on Saturday, December 3rd from 10am - 3pm. Shoppers can pick an ornament off a tree at the front of the store and shop for it there. FedEx volunteers will ship gifts directly to the kids that day. Everyone who grants a Little Wish at Shopping Day will be registered for a chance to win a four pack of tickets to see "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The Musical" presented by Scottrade. KSDK is giving away 100 family four packs.

Granting a holiday wish for a child in foster care is easy. In five minutes time, area residents can create memories that will last a lifetime.
