Holabird Western Americana Collections will offer a time capsule of Gold Rush life with important items recovered from the 1857 sinking of the legendary “Ship of Gold".
The 2,100-lot auction will feature Native and general Americana, mining, Express, numismatics, art, bottles, stocks and much more, starting at 8 am Pacific time all four days.
Items will include gold jewelry, a Wells Fargo treasure box lid, jeans that may have been made by Levi Strauss, vintage ornate bottles and a mysterious "Mona Lisa of the Deep" photograph.
The four-day, 2,441-lot event was held online and live at the Holabird gallery in Reno, Nevada. It was headlined by two outstanding collections: Gary Bracken and James & Barbara Sherman.
