  • Riverside-San Bernardino, CA (1888PressRelease) July 28, 2008 - Hodgdon Miank Construction, Inc. has completed the construction on a $6.8 million shopping center in Fontana, Calif. The 4.86-acre project known as Heritage Crossing includes a multi-tenant retail building, state-of-the-art Jump Start Express Car Wash and a Miguel’s Jr. Mexican Food restaurant with a drive-thru.

Located at southwest corner of Baseline Avenue and Cherry Avenue at 7460-7490 Cherry Avenue in the northwest portion of Fontana, HMC Construction served as the general contractor for the site and the three buildings while working with two separate owners, Heritage Crossing, LLC and Miguel’s, which owns its own building.

“The retail building is an 18,400-square-foot multi-tenant, in-line wood-framed building with a clay tile roof, metal canopies, wood trellis, metal vine trellis, 10-foot glass entries, covered walk-ways, and large covered outside patio dining area with decorative fountain,” said Aaron Miank, vice president of Hodgdon Miank Construction, Inc.

HMC Construction was retained by Miguel’s to build its building as well as provide interior improvements. “The Miguel’s building is a 3,000-square-foot ground-up wood-framed fast-food restaurant with complete kitchen and front of house improvements. Hodgdon Miank’s scope of work included all site work, drive-thru equipment, patio dining and parking lot,” Miank said. Miguel’s is now open for business.

“The Jump Start Express Car Wash building is a masonry carwash tunnel, extensive covered detailing area, and a large wood trellis connected by covered archway,” Miank added. The tunnel equipment is currently being installed.

“The number of large to medium-sized anchored retail development projects is slowing down, but there is still a pent up demand for smaller multi-tenant developments due to the rapid growth in the residential market over the last few years,” noted Miank. As of 2007, Fontana’s population was estimated at 183,640.

The Riverside office of RBI Retail Brokers is handling the marketing and leasing of the project. The architect for the project is Andy Perez & Associates of Irvine, Calif.

Colton-based Hodgdon Miank Construction’s team has a combined experience in excess of 75 years in construction and real estate development. The company’s proven expertise from inception to completion in ground up, design build, construction management, tenant improvement and renovation have earned HMC Construction the trust and respect of our clients, subcontractors and peers.
