  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) February 05, 2015 - New from Arcadia Publishing's Images of America series is College Park by local author Tana Mosier Porter for the College Park Neighborhood Association. The book is comprised of more than 200 vintage images that together tell the story of this prominent Orlando Neighborhood. "In College Park, the values of small-town America developed with the community, and those values endure after 90 years of growth and change," Porter said.

With inspiration from local resident Grace Hagedorn, and using images from the collections of local residents, the book shows how College Park developed and explains its enduring popularity. The author stated, "The prevailing community spirit can be seen in photographs shared from the collections of College Park families, businesses and institutions. These photographs also document the history of the place residents know as "Small Town Downtown.""

"I hope that the book will lead to an understanding of the importance of history in the growth and development of any community." Porter said, "Every place is a product of its past, and understanding that past can help explain the present. History helps create a sense of place".

A portion of the profits from the sales of this book will go to the College Park Neighborhood Association.
