History is Brought to Life in Lebanon
Local author, Kim Jackson Parks for Historic Lebanon, brings fresh new look to Lebanon's Past in new book by Arcadia Publishing.
- Nashville, TN (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2014 - New from Arcadia Publishing's Images of America series is Lebanon by local author Kim Jackson Parks for Historic Lebanon. The book is comprised of over 200 vintage images that together tell the story of this town first 167 years. "This work will not only serve as an account of Lebanon's rich heritage, but will encourage further questions and research into the history and stories of the town," said Parks.
Named for the Biblical "Land of Cedars", Lebanon was founded in 1801 by Wilson County commissioners as the location for the newly formed county seat. Since then, it has been a hub for transportation, commerce and education in Middle Tennessee. With the advancement of this infrastructure brought industry and businesses including Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in 1969, which is still headquartered here today.
"This new history of Lebanon, one of the earliest towns in Middle Tennessee, is long overdue. With important historic photographs and insightful text, this newest offering from Images of America is a welcome addition to anyone's library of Tennessee history and architecture.
