Historic Dallas Derby Devils Championship Bout
For the second straight season, history will be made in the Dallas Derby Devils' Championship bout. Last year's championship saw The Suicide Shifters beat the High Seas Hotties to claim their first ever Golden Skate, ending years of dominance by the Hotties and the Slaughterers. This year will also see a brand new champion, as both teams competing for the Golden Skate have never won before.
- Fort Worth-Arlington, TX (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2013 - The 4-0 Death Row Rumblers and the 4-1 Wrecking Crew will meet to determine DDD's 2013 Champion. One team will end years of frustration, and another will face an off-season of heartbreak. Both squads have been to the championship game before only to lose - The Rumblers in 2011 and The Wrecking Crew on three separate occasions - 2007, 2008, and 2010.
These two teams met during the regular season, with the undefeated Rumblers handing the Crew their only defeat, cruising to a 298-134 victory in a game marred by a combined 80 penalties. The Crew will be looking for revenge, while the Rumblers will attempt to avoid history repeating itself, as their 2011 unit went into the Championship game undefeated, only to lose to the upstart Slaughterers, a team they had dominated in the regular season.
The Slaughterers will also be action, as they take on the High Seas Hotties for third place. Both teams come into this game with 2-3 records, so the winner will not only have bragging rights for third place, but will even their record to .500.
The 0-5 Suicide Shifters were knocked out of the playoffs last month by the Hotties , but they pride themselves on being the prettiest team *and* the best twerkers in the league, so they'll be in attendance and maybe the fans can encourage them to give the largest public display of twerk in DDD history.
As usual, the bouts will take place at NyTex Sports Centre (8851 Ice House Dr., North Richland Hills, TX). And, as always, there will be $1 Derby Drafts and FREE parking! Merchandise is available for sale at each game. Doors open at 6:30. Whistle blows at 7:00.
