  • (1888PressRelease) October 06, 2010 - Owner of Manhattan Home Design Daniel Levy, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, took part in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program graduation on Sept. 22, at LaGuardia Community College, where legendary financial investor Warren Buffett and Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein were guest speakers.

For Levy, being inducted into this prestigious program was quite a feat.

Levy immigrated to the United States 10 years ago with high aspirations for entrepreneurial success, yet little capital available. He started Manhattan Home Design, an online company that sells modern-design furniture, five years ago with only $500.

Levy has been through many ups and downs as a minority small business owner, not only having to navigate through an extremely competitive global market, but also dealing with a recession that has made obtaining capital and retaining clients very challenging.

Still, Levy persevered; he managed to grow his business by developing additional cost-saving strategies and finding new venues for revenue.

With the help and knowledge of Goldman Sachs, Levy was able to score big accounts and sign two major contracts with New York City government agencies supplying bistro tables and chairs in several of the city's famous parks.

The education of the Goldman Sachs program has been of great benefit to all of its participants, and Levy looks forward to applying his knowledge to expand his ever-growing company.

Warren Buffet, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway and an advocate for small businesses and the 10,000 Small Business program, stated, "Our recovery is dependent on hard-working small business owners across America who will create jobs that America needs. I'm proud to be a part of this innovative program, which provides greater access to know-how and capital - two ingredients critical to success."

Levy feels lucky to have been one of the individuals selected for the first round of the 10,000 Small Businesses program. "Getting to work with people who are so educated in so many aspects of business and are dedicated to helping small business owners such as myself has been such a gratifying experience. I never thought in a million years that my company would be getting advice from the likes of Warren Buffett. I'm excited to expand Manhattan Home Design based on the principles the Goldman Sachs program has taught me," stated Levy.

The 10,000 Small Businesses graduation ceremony took place on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at LaGuardia Community College. Berkshire Hathaway's CEO Warren Buffett was the key guest speaker.
