Hirschfeld Kraemer Partner Natasha Baker Elected to NACUA Board of Directors
Baker will serve a three year term.
- San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) June 27, 2014 - Natasha J. Baker, a partner at Hirschfeld Kraemer LLP, has been elected as member of the board of directors of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), serving a three year term.
"This position is a reflection of, and testament to, Natasha's active presence and role as a thought leader in the higher education community," said Stephen J. Hirschfeld, co-managing partner of Hirschfeld Kraemer. "Natasha's leadership and energy strengthen our higher education practice, a core area of our firm."
NACUA provides legal assistance to its members - primarily non-profit, regionally accredited higher education institutions throughout the United States, Canada and beyond - by offering educational resources, including substantive continuing legal education programming, addressing campus legal concerns.
Baker advises private and public institutions of higher education on a broad range of legal matters, including labor, employment and tenure issues, student affairs, Title IX compliance and other regulatory matters.
In addition, Baker represents educational and corporate clients in administrative agency charges and state and federal litigation. She regularly conducts third-party investigations and, as a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators, Inc., she routinely trains supervisors and managers nationwide on best practices for conducting investigations.
Baker co-chairs the Higher Education Council of the global Employment Law Alliance (HEC-ELA) - the world's largest network of labor and employment attorneys. As part of her work with the HEC-ELA (composed of ELA member firms who focus on higher education law), she has co-authored amicus curiae briefs submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court and the National Labor Relations Board.
A frequent speaker and author, Baker regularly addresses organizations such as URMIA (University Risk Management and Insurance Association), the Council of Independent Colleges and the consortium of schools who are members of the Educational & Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc. She is also the co-founder of the national training program for Title IX administrators: Title IX ASAP (Awareness and Sexual Assault Prevention).
Baker is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law (J.D., 2003) and Tufts University (B.S., 1999).
