Hinterland Village is an eco-friendly resort on the quiet outskirts of the metropolitan city, Kochi. The estate has a century-old home and a couple of cottages on a sprawling 7 acres. The land is carefully tended so that its biodiversity is preserved and enhanced. A unique feature of the resort is the wide variety of pets, including dogs, cats, geese, kites, lovebirds, fishes, turtles and an emu, raised on its premises. As a gesture of love and responsiveness to animals, the Village has introduced boarding for pets too that belong to the guests who visit the Village.
It is the general reluctance of pet lovers, not to mention own family's, to leave their pets home and go on a holiday that was the main provocation to take this new and innovative step in hospitality, according to T. Unni, the proprietor of Hinterland Village. The Village being home to several pets of the tailed, winged and finned kind will be able to easily accommodate almost any pet comfortably.
The Village staff has been witnessing the excitement of the guests who visit the Village and the thrill and joy of the children in playing and interacting with the residing pets. This was also a reason that inspired the proprietor to turn the resort pet-friendly and to extend boarding facilities to pets that the guests may want to bring along. This, he hopes, would be an encouragement to pet lovers to take more frequent holidays and enjoy their stay better with their whole family, including their pets, holidaying with them.
