Language is obviously a vital tool as it is not only a means of communicating thoughts and ideas, but it also forges friendships, cultural ties, and economic relationships.
Throughout history, many have reflected on the importance of language. According to the noted scholar Benjamin Whorf Language shapes thoughts and emotions, determining one's perception of reality. To quote John Stuart Mill "Language is the light of the mind."
It goes without saying that language indeed shapes the way we think, and also determines what we can think about. No one in India today has doubt that language proficiency is surely the basis of learning, as well as a fundamental prerequisite of intellectual dexterity, and from there to top ranking jobs and personal growth. Its importance to a successful education system cannot be underestimated.
