(1888PressRelease) April 25, 2007 - Highland Development Company, a subsidiary of The Marcus & Millichap Company and a dynamic retail and retail-driven mixed-use development company, announced today that Thomas Cole has been hired as Director of Construction. He was formerly the Director of Development at LNR Property Corporation, where he spearheaded the planning, entitlement, financial underwriting and contract negotiation of multi-million dollar projects.

As Highland Development’s Director of Construction, Cole’s responsibilities include managing the development and finalization of architectural plans and construction budgets and facilitating subcontractor bidding and site work. He is currently based in the company’s headquarters in Pasadena and will work directly with Greg Hoxworth and Michael Singelyn.

Prior to his experience at LNR Property Corporation, Cole was the Senior Project Manager for Newhall Land’s Commercial and Industrial Valencia division and was responsible for over 15,000 acres of planning and development activity valued at nearly $1 billion.

Cole is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Geography with emphasis in Urban Planning. He is a board member of the Santa Clarita Valley Rotary Club, as well as an active participant in the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Urban Entertainment Development, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the CLE (Continuing Legal Education) International.

Highland Development Company is a developer of retail and retail-driven mixed-use projects throughout the Western United States.
