High School Journalists to be Recognized at Adelphi University's Press Day 2013
High school journalists from around Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties will attend a panel discussion on "Challenges in Journalism." They will also be recognized with the Quill Awards in 14 categories.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2013 - Adelphi University will host more than 200 high school journalists from 25 schools in Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens counties for Press Day 2013 on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. Adelphi University's Office of Marketing and Creative Services organizes the High School Press Day every year to recognize high school journalism and to provide high school novices with an opportunity to connect to and hear from professionals in this field. The event will begin at 9:05 a.m. with opening remarks by Assistant Professor Mark Grabowski, and followed by a panel discussion with Adelphi University faculty and students. The major highlight of the day is the Quill Award presentation in 14 categories.

The students will break out into discussion groups at 10:30 a.m. They will be led by Adelphi faculty and students to delve deeper into the panel topic, relating it to their high school and future involvement in journalism.
The session will be followed by the Quill Award Ceremony at noon. The winners will be judged on the basis of submissions made to the Quill Awards Competition for excellence in high school journalism in each category, prior to the event.
