- (1888PressRelease) December 07, 2011 - Many people who have heard of or played at Jay Miller's Riverside golf club know that the Hidden Valley Golf Club owner has a great golf course, but what some fans may not know is that he has a big heart as well. If there's one thing the newly elected president of the California Golf Course Association loves more than golf, it's kids. Miller has made that fact more than evident through his efforts as founder of the Get a Grip Foundation, an organization which uses the sport of golf as a way to motivate kids to do well academically.
Perhaps that's why Miller is so excited to host this year's CJ and Santa Charity Golf Tournament. CJ and Santa is a non-profit organization that strives to raise funds to make the holidays a little easier or perhaps even brighter for young patients undergoing chemotherapy, and of course, their families as well. For the past five years, CJ and Santa has done just that by participating in charity golf tournaments in and around Riverside, California. This year, the golf course Riverside non-profit CJ and Santa has chosen is the award-winning Riverside golf club, Hidden Valley.
"I couldn't be more honored to be a part of such a generous effort," says Miller who has always recognized the importance of giving back to the community and is notorious for using creative means to develop programs and volunteer opportunities that involve his golf course. Riverside is no doubt a better place because of businessmen like Miller who are always looking for an opportunity to lend a helping hand.
Funds raised from the Riverside golf tournament will enable the CJ and Santa organization to provide much-needed essentials such as toiletries and hospital cafeteria gift cards to families faced with an unspeakable emotional hardship during an already tumultuous and potentially expensive time of year. Perhaps most importantly, the children themselves will receive toys delivered right to their hospital beds, thanks to the hundreds of golfers who will participate in the tournament held at Hidden Valley golf course. Riverside as a whole will no doubt be a happier place this holiday season as a result of this heartfelt gesture.
For Riverside golf club owner, Jay Miller, it will certainly be a highlight of his career as a golf course owner, one of many that he has experienced of late. In addition to his Riverside golf course being named the National Golf Course of the Year for 2010-2011, he was also recently elected President of the California Golf Course Owner's Association. For Jay, though, none of these accolades will compete with the smiles on the children's faces when they receive the fruits of the efforts put forth by everyone on Hidden Valley's golf course. Riverside citizens will certainly take notice as will the patients and families that CJ and Santa serve year after year. As for Jay Miller, he's just glad to do his part.
