Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) August 09, 2008 - Hickory BBQ & Grill walked away the big winner at this year’s BBQ Competition held at the Ribs n Soul Festival August 1-3, 2008 in Hart Plaza. Capturing first place in both the BEST RIBS and BEST SAUCE categories was a major accomplishment for being a first time vendor at the Ribs n Soul Festival. Dale grew up in the small town of Imlay City, MI and graduated top of his class in Culinary Vocational School located in Lapeer County.
And currently serves as Vice President of the Great Lakes BBQ Association www.glbbqa.com.
Hickory BBQ & Grill Owner and Pit Master, Dale Lockwood is very proud to win the Grand Champion title and recieve two trophies by competing against 13 other “Ribbers” (some of the best BBQ-ers and vendors in Detroit).
“Our ribs are prepared with a dry rub then slow smoked, and the BBQ sauce is sweet with a mild kick of spice at the end. I wanted to create something that is unique, something more than just a doctored-up version of some BBQ sauce you can buy off the shelf, and I believe cooking on a Quality Grill built in Detroit helped me to win” …Says Dale
