Xmas & New Year's Eve Menus Offered at Critically Acclaimed Restaurant. End Quote

Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) December 19, 2012 - Those seeking a sophisticated dining experience to celebrate Christmas Eve and the impending New Year will find a safe haven at one of the OC's most critically acclaimed restaurants. Tamarind of London, situated at Crystal Cove Promenade in Newport Beach, will offer special prix fixe menus for each occasion; both evenings offer open seating.

· CHRISTMAS EVE ($39 pp) - The 3-course dinner starts with a choice of appetizers including spiced potato cakes, seared Atlantic scallops or ground lamb followed by entrée selections of salmon, chicken tikka, paneer cheese or braised Colorado lamb topped off with a dessert of either 7 spiced chocolate cake or mango kulfi. Each is served with various sides.

· NEW YEAR'S EVE ($37 pp) - Also a 3-course dinner, this meal begins with a choice of paneer cheese fritters, spiced cakes of crab meat or Tandoori grilled Jidori chicken followed by entrée selections of tiger shrimp, chicken Tikka, diced lamb or seasoned vegetables. Each is served with various sides.

With 11 Michelin stars to his name, Alfred Prasad is executive chef of both the world-famous Tamarind restaurant in London and its sister in Newport Beach. He is the only Michelin ranked chef actively working in an Orange County restaurant and one of only a few in the state holding close to that many of the coveted stars, widely considered the highest level of achievement for a chef.

Born in central India, Prasad trained in Madras and then at the ITC Maurya Sheraton in Delhi. Building on his south Indian upbringing and affinity with the ingredients from the region, Prasad introduced coconut based curries and seafood typical of its coastline to the restaurant's British patrons. He also is recognized for his imaginative adaptations of the rich cuisine of the north such as delicately spiced, succulent kebabs and aromatic curries. Among his other innovations is a Lamb Biryani served with a pastry lid and flavored with mint, rose water and saffron.
