- Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) March 24, 2011 - The Brigham and Women's Hospital Cardiovascular Wellness Service is hosting Heart Happenings, a year-long initiative formed to increase awareness of heart disease and improve the heart health of the members of our community. The initiative includes free educational sessions and cardiovascular disease screenings for residents of the Greater Boston area, throughout 2011.
Educational sessions will take place on the third Wednesday of each month in the Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center, third floor. The sessions consist of a short presentation by Brigham and Women's physicians on cutting-edge cardiovascular topics with ample opportunity for questions and answers. February's topic is "Living With Heart Failure: How to Be a Proactive Self-Advocate."
Cardiovascular disease screenings will take place monthly at Brigham and Women's Hospital or other community locations and events throughout the year. The screenings provide simple tests to measure risk factors for heart disease and one-on-one counseling-a great step toward taking control of your cardiovascular health. The first free screening will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the mezzanine of the Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center.
