Healthcare Communications Firm Expands Policy and Advocacy Capabilities
Jones Public Affairs, Inc. (JPA), today announced the addition of two new staff members to the JPA team. Valerie Carter has been hired as Senior Vice President of the Health Policy team in Washington DC, and Regan Hiatt as Senior Account Executive on the Advocacy Relations team in Boston.

In her role as senior vice president, Valerie Carter will lead the health policy team in the Washington, D.C. office. Carter's extensive experience in health policy, advocacy and communications will further grow the firm's capabilities in providing policy and government relations support services to both U.S. and international clients. Regan Hiatt will join the Cambridge, Mass office as a senior account executive, with a focus on advocacy relations and developing partnerships between healthcare stakeholders and patient advocacy groups.

Carter brings over 20 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, advocacy and communications disciplines in for-profit, not-for-profit and consulting organizations. Prior to joining JPA, she served as vice president of public affairs at Ricochet PR, where she was responsible for managing and directing all public affairs accounts and projects, with a focus in healthcare companies.
Carter spent 15 years at Merck & Co., Inc., where she rose to lead the company's government relations communications efforts, with a focus on extensive grassroots legislative action and Political Action Committee programs as well as lobbying. She also previously served as head of the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Washington office, where she managed PMI's government relations programs and global initiatives.
Hiatt comes to JPA from the Cancer Support Community (CSC), the largest professionally-led cancer support non-profit network in the world. As director of communications, Regan oversaw core messaging, branding and collateral development. Prior to CSC, Hiatt served as scientific program coordinator for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
