- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) September 01, 2011 - This Labor Day weekend book lovers will have a mammoth love fest at the 6th Annual Atlanta Journal Constitution Decatur Book Festival, the largest independent book festival in the nation. Over 300 authors and poets from across the country will present their works, do readings and signings, and have panel discussion over the three day event. Washington DC's own, Alisa Hughley will be one of the featured authors on Saturday, September 3rd at the Emerging Authors Stage. Hughley will be highlighting minority health initiatives and EnBloom Media's most recent book release III Gifts by Carey Hughley, III featuring the thought-provoking poem, "The Truth of it All."
Alisa Hughley earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University and a Masters Public Health degree from Emory University. She is trained in public health, consults and manages the websites, enbloommedia.com and iiigifts.com. As a speaker, she passionately advocates for health and social policy issues like health literacy and patient autonomy, organ donation and end-of-life planning, and HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted disease prevention. Alisa is also the editor of III Gifts which is a book by her late brother, Carey Hughley, III. Published posthumously from his journals the book chronicles a journey of self-discovery with an idealism and zeal for life characteristics of individuals in their twenties, but tempered by a respect for spirituality and the metaphysical realm well beyond his years. Carey was an avid photographer and the selection of his photographs included in III Gifts deftly helps bring his collection of poems to life.
