Heady NJ Editor Reflects on 4/20 in the Wake of Legalization.
- (1888PressRelease) April 28, 2021 - Heady NJ Editor Dan Ulloa noted it is the first 4/20 since the legalization of adult-use cannabis in New Jersey on February 22nd earlier this year.
“It will be a 4/20 worth celebrating with the passage of legislation that laid the cornerstone for the adult-use market,” Ulloa said. “While we continue to fight for homegrow, we won many provisions that will ensure cannabis licenses will go to Hispanic and Black entrepreneurs adversely affected by the War on Drugs.”
Experts predict that New Jersey’s adult-use cannabis industry will be a multi-billion-dollar industry within five years due to the state’s population, wealth, and location that makes it easy for tourists to visit.
Ulloa, a first-generation Peruvian American, represents the Latino Action Network on the legalization campaign New Jersey United 4 Marijuana Reform (NJUMR) led by the ACLU, which was instrumental in the passage of cannabis reform. Ulloa testified in favor of creating a just cannabis industry and submitted testimony during the lengthy legislative process. The process followed New Jersey’s referendum, where 67 percent of the state voted for cannabis reform.
