  • (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2010 - Union City, TN - HAYGAIN Hay Steamers is proud to sponsor young professional equestrian Callie Judy.

Callie first began riding at age 8 when she received riding lessons as a birthday present. By age 9, she was competing in hunter shows. For her 10th birthday, Callie's parents bought her Caddo Chief, the horse they had been leasing for her to ride. The bond between Callie and Caddo was evident and after just three months, the two competed in and won their first Eventing horse trial at the Beginner Novice level.

The pair rode through the Training level, and won the USEA Area IV Beginner Novice Championships and Training Level Championships. They missed the Area IV Novice Championships while going to the inaugural American Eventing Championships. Tragically, Callie lost Caddo to an injury sustained on the cross-country phase of their first attempt together at the Preliminary level.

In 2006, Callie and Kilkenny Castle (Kel) began competing together at the Training level. The pair had a great year, competing at the Preliminary level and in several One Star (international) competitions. They won the team gold medal at the North American Young Riders Championships, the Junior/Young Rider division of the American Eventing Championships at the Preliminary Level, and Callie finished off the year as the USEA Junior Preliminary Rider of the Year.

In 2008, with new mare, Irish Odyssey, Callie won CIC* competitions at Otter Creek and Maui Jim, and won the team and individual gold medals in the CCI* division of the North American Junior/Young Riders Championships. Callie also began riding Call on Me in 2008, and the two began competing in Intermediate level competitions. They won at Richland Horse Trials, and completed Callie's first CCI** at Fairhill International. At the year's closing, Callie was again honored to be the USEA Junior Preliminary Rider of the Year.

Callie's goal for 2010 is to successfully compete at the Advanced Level with Call on Me and Intermediate level with Irish Odyssey. She is well on her way to achieving those goals, successfully completing the Jersey Fresh CIC*** and Bromont CCI*** on Call on Me, and scoring her first Intermediate win on Irish Odyssey at the Horse Park of New Jersey Horse Trials. In addition to her two top horses, she is competing Sportsfield Rafiki at the Preliminary level, and getting Bayama started at the Novice level. This winter, she hopes to also be getting Voodoo Warrior started on his journey to becoming a top-level eventer.

Team HAYGAIN is proud to support Callie on her journey to the top.
