"Komen Hawaii is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in our community," said Shelia Callum, executive director of the Susan G. Komen for the CureŽ - Hawaii Affiliate.
"Unfortunately it is those women, and some men, who are underserved (low-income, unemployed, uninsured) facing the greatest barriers to breast cancer screening. These grants allow us to partner and collaborate with other cancer organizations to increase breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care services to these individuals. To date we have invested over $2 million in local breast cancer health and breast cancer awareness projects in the state."
