Harris Corporation Extends its VIDA Solutions
Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) today announced the integration of public safety communication services across both narrowband and broadband networks, including 3G/4G (third- and fourth-generation) wireless networks.
- (1888PressRelease) August 04, 2010 - HOUSTON, TX (APCO International, Booth 231) — 3G/4G wireless networks can host the Harris VIDA® (Voice, Interoperability, Data and Access) core network to provide critical communications and applications on public and/or private broadband networks. "The VIDA core network now allows users of critical communications to leverage the multitude of wireless communication tools available today, regardless of the air interface technology involved," said Steve Shanck, President, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications. "Traditional LMR users now have more choices because VIDA networks can connect narrowband systems to emerging broadband capabilities."
The VIDA core network is a flat, all-Internet Protocol (IP) network that directly integrates LMR narrowband and 3G and 4G wireless networks such as LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks. With the VIDA core network, administrators can provision communication services for devices on both types of networks. VIDA core networks are widely deployed in hundreds of public safety systems today, providing mission-critical communications to hundreds of local, state and Federal enterprises and agencies.
