Harper Limbach Receives STEP Platinum Award
Harper Limbach announces the Company's achievement of the Platinum level of the Associated Builders and Contractors' (ABC) prestigious Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program.
- Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) August 14, 2010 - This marks the eleventh consecutive year that ABC has recognized the Company's top-notch safety program with a STEP Platinum Award. Robert Wilder, Harper's Director of Safety, accepted the decoration at ABC's annual STEP Award Banquet in July.
"Safety is a Core Value within the Limbach family," commented Wilder, "it's one of the cornerstones of our business and we've made safety a part of our cultural fabric."
Established in 1989, the STEP awards assist ABC member contractors in evaluating and improving corporate safety practices, while recognizing outstanding safety training efforts. Over 2,000 contractors participate in the STEP program each year. Main criteria for the ABC's STEP Platinum Award includes zero catastrophic accidents within 3 consecutive years, having an incident rate at least 25 percent below specific industry averages, maintaining an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) at or below 0.800, review of OSHA's work-related injuries and illnesses forms, and designated supervisory and safety personnel completing specific OSHA safety courses.
Wilder contributes Harper's achievement with efforts to reenergize the Company's Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture with more training, safety audits, morale boosting events, and additional emphasis placed on subcontractor involvement. "Our goal," he says, "is to keep improving our safety program by continually involving our employees in the practices and procedures used to measure their success. So congratulations to everyone at Harper for helping to achieve this great honor for the 11th year in a row."
