Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) November 28, 2011 - Hardin Construction Company has been selected to build the third campus location of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, one of the nation's largest institutions for graduate studies in physical therapy and occupational therapy.

St. Augustine's new 27.7-acre campus, which will accommodate approximately 500 students, will be located in the Circle C Ranch community in southwest Austin, Texas.

"We were looking for a relationship with an experienced contractor that would work closely with us to develop St. Augustine's third campus," said Shane Felker, President of Sawtooth Development Group, the project's developer and owner.
"Hardin Construction went above and beyond to work with us in the pre-development stages of the project," Felker said. "Working with the people at Hardin gave us a comfort level to move forward."

Construction will begin in early November and is scheduled for completion in June 2012.

Building Interactive Learning Communities
The campus will comprise two, two-story buildings housing 80,000 square feet of laboratory and auditorium-style classrooms, library and research facilities, office and administrative spaces, 240 surface parking spaces, as well as indoor and outdoor student lounge areas.

The facilities will feature ultra-modern technology and environments designed to promote a student-centered approach to education, Felker said. Academic spaces, for example, will accommodate clusters of students and foster interactive, in-class learning activities. Auditorium classrooms will be tiered and arc-shaped, creating a sense of community that takes the focus off of lecturers and promotes a more engaging experience for students.

The project will seek a 3-star rating through the City of Austin's Green Building Program.

The University of St. Augustine is a private, graduate institution that emphasizes health science education and offers degrees in occupational therapy, physical therapy and an orthopedic physician assistant program, as well as continuing professional education courses for practicing therapists.
