Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) June 15, 2011 - In celebration of the 65th anniversary of Hardin Construction Company LLC, Hardin's Atlanta offices volunteered en masse today for a community service project at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, Georgia.

With a workforce nearly 100 strong-from administrative assistants and superintendents to the company's senior executives, representing the company's corporate and Atlanta branch offices-Hardin volunteers set to work building and repairing perimeter fencing around the 127-acre center and performed work in the center's gardens.

"We chose the Chattahoochee Nature Center as an expression of our commitment to sustainability and safeguarding the natural surroundings in our own back yard," said Hardin Chairman Brantley Barrow.

The Chattahoochee Nature Center is a private, nonprofit environmental education facility located adjacent to the Chattahoochee River.

All hands on deck
Hardin's Atlanta volunteer contingent this week is joining other Hardin offices from Texas to North Carolina, in cities where Hardin has branch offices, in making community service projects the highlight of the company's 65th birthday celebration.

Companywide, about 80 percent of Hardin's employees are taking part in the all-hands-on-deck Volunteer Days. At some jobsites in cities where Hardin does not have branch offices, project teams are organizing fundraisers to benefit charitable causes.

"We don't want our anniversary celebration to be just about Hardin," Barrow said. "We want to express, through our presence and our service, deep appreciation to these communities for providing opportunities for Hardin and its people. We also planned this celebration to reflect something that's embedded in the Hardin culture-compassion and community involvement."

Over the past two decades, for example, Hardin employees have raised and contributed more than $2 million to the March of Dimes. And the Hardin Associates Charitable Foundation-established in 2007 and operated exclusively by Hardin employees-has contributed more than $150,000 in grant awards to charitable causes.

Historically, about 75 percent of Hardin associates serve on their own as community volunteers.
