Hansons Windows Donates $10,000 to Covenant House Michigan
Sanctuary for young people will use money to help with general program costs.
- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) September 12, 2012 - Citing the importance of children and youth, Hansons Windows owner Brian Elias proudly explained his company's recent decision to donate $10,000 to Covenant House Michigan.
"Children are the most important thing in life," Elias said. "As a dad, I try to provide (for) and nurture my child as much as possible, and I wanted to do something to help those people who are trying to do that for other kids here in Michigan."
Covenant House, located in Downtown Detroit, is a sanctuary for young people who have little resources. Adolescents who have been abused and neglected are welcomed into a family environment and nurtured by volunteers "who believe that all of God's children deserve unconditional love, respect and hope."
Hansons Windows' $10,000 contribution will help with general program costs such as housing, food, job readiness and counseling, according to Covenant House Michigan's Director of Marketing and PR, Melissa Golpe.
"Hansons Windows' involvement means so much to our organization and the kids we serve," Golpe said. "When Mr. Elias visited our campus a few weeks back, our kids were so excited to meet him; they even recited the commercial jingle. It is truly a blessing to have supporters like Mr. Elias visit and show our kids how much they are valued."
Hansons Windows will be among the donors recognized on September 14, when Covenant House Michigan holds its 15th anniversary celebration at Shenandoah Country Club in Bloomfield Hills.
Elias founded Hansons Windows, known also as 1-800-HANSONS, in 1988. A self-made entrepreneur, Elias started by selling the leads he canvassed door-to-door. As Hansons approaches its 25th anniversary, it has become one of the home improvement industry's largest companies. In 2011, Hansons generated $46 million in sales, offering replacement windows, siding, roofing, gutters, doors and insulation.
