Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell-Downtown Donates 13 Police Bicycles to City of Miami
The hotel's ownership underwrote the $8,500 purchase of 13 new patrol bikes for the city's police department in support of the not-for-profit H.E.L.P. Fund (Help Equip Law-enforcement Personnel).
- Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) December 14, 2012 - The holidays came early this year for 13 City of Miami bicycle police officers who received a new set of wheels through a public-private partnership between the City of Miami and the Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell-Downtown. The hotel underwrote the $8,500 purchase of 13 new patrol bikes for the city's police department in support of the not-for-profit H.E.L.P. Fund (Help Equip Law-enforcement Personnel).
The H.E.L.P. Fund was initiated by City of Miami Commissioner Marc D. Sarnoff, who issued a call to action to private citizens and businesses with the goal of equipping the police department with additional resources. The bicycles were presented to the police force on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell-Downtown by Commissioner Sarnoff and the Hotel's developer, Bernard Wolfson of Hospitality Operations, Inc.
"I started the H.E.L.P. Fund to give our police and fire-rescue personnel the tools necessary to make our streets safer and give the business community, specifically, a way to directly invest in the well-being of our citizens," said Commissioner Sarnoff, who is also Chairman of the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
The donation nearly doubled the size of the bicycle force that patrols the Downtown Miami/Brickell area, which is Miami's most densely populated commercial and residential district.
"Introducing additional police protection on our Downtown Miami streets will enhance quality of life in our neighborhood, ensuring our guests from around the world enjoy a secure and positive experience," said Bernard Wolfson. "Miami's urban core is an international destination, so preserving the safety and peace of mind of our visitors is essential."
The purchase of the bicycles also reflects the Hampton Inn & Suites' commitment to community and sustainability, with the property being the City of Miami's first LEED certified hotel.
