Getting a job at Hamilton Sports is a coveted position, owner Bill Miller is known for being one of the best bosses of any store in Aspen, he did take his entire staff to Chamonix after the 2012 ski season after all. On top of this the camaraderie and antics of the staff are legendary around town.
Because of this Bill is able to select the best staff from town, dedicated skiers who are professional and care about their work at the ski shop. This dedication gives them in depth knowledge, from skiing daily to attending the ski trade shows in the summer, these guys and gals know skiing.
This year the ski shop has promoted two long time employees to key positions. These two are known for their knowledge and great vibe. Skiing for Greg began 25 years ago in New England at Blue Hills in Massachusetts and his passion for the sport has lead him to call Aspen home. The small town feel, champagne powder, great friends and endless outdoor activities are a few of the things that Greg loves most about Aspen. When not skiing and in the summer, Greg can be found of the golf course teeing it up at the Aspen Golf Club with the rest of the Hamilton Sports crew. Of the four mountains to choose from, Ajax is his number one pick.
No lift lines, posh gondolas, distance from the shop, pancakes at Bonnie's and continuous steeps and deeps are just a few reasons why Greg can be spotted carving it up from town on a daily basis. On average, Greg skis over 100 days per season. Greg's passion for skiing allows him to have the greatest job in the world but work continues to get in the way of skiing. This year, Greg is skiing the Blizzard Gunsmoke 186 cm. With a 114mm waist and flipcore design, this ski allows Greg to conquer any terrain on the mountain. This year, Greg will be sporting the Tsurugi shell by Goldwin for outerwear. Waterproof for the stormy days and breathable for the sunny days make this piece as versatile as Greg's skiing.
Ski Wear Buyer/Communications Director.
Emily began working in the ski industry five years ago for Uncle Bill at Hamilton Sports. After a one-year break to finish her Bachelors degree in Public Health in Denver, Emily is back at Hamilton Sports full time for the 2013/2014 season and hopes to never leave. Skiing for Emily began at the age of 7 when the Burke family would load up their 1990 blue and white Suburban stocked with thermos's of tea and hot chocolate to head to free ski school at Lookout Pass just outside of Coeur d'Alene, ID. Skiing, hiking, tubing the lazy river with her best friend Brie, riding her cruiser and road bike are a few of Emily's favorite things to do in Aspen.
During the winter season, if Emily is not at Hamilton Sports, she can be found on Ajax riding Chair 7 (the Couch) working on her goggle tan or eating pancakes at the mid-mountain restaurant Bonnie's. The sunny days, variety of terrain, and distance from the shop makes Ajax her top choice for skiing. Skiing daily is almost as important as coming to work. This year, Emily will be skiing on the Blizzard Black Pearl. The Black Pearl has a 88mm waist and is the perfect Aspen mountain ski; great on groomers and super maneuverable in the moguls. On the slopes, Emily will be sporting the Toni Sailer Arizona jacket. The mix of fashion and function is perfect for her style of skiing.
