Precisely the same firm had experienced a serious blowout in the same gas field five years before. The regulatory and community outcry was intense. Paradoxically, the smell of h2S rotten eggs may be smelled as far away as Winnipeg, almost 1500 kilometers away.
This episode spawned a creation of new oil and gas security regulations. Dangerous drilling places were designated by the oil and gas business and tagged them as possibly unsafe wells. Elaborate security precautions in the properly where mandated, together with a requirement for wide-ranging and continuing educational activity for employees at these wells. Consequently, the H2S Alive course was created. It is a 6-8 hour training program occurs in a classroom, and is intended to supply the training and knowledge employees require to run a hazard assessment and control the risks in a hydrogen sulphide gas environment.
A temporary ticket is supplied upon successful conclusion of group scenarios, the theory and physical skills. A 70% pass mark is required by a closed-book examination. A long-term ticket is sent shortly after the program. This ticket is valid for three years. This class is presented by Allstar Enviro Safety in Calgary Alberta.
