Opening reception to be held at Guy Lyman Fine Art on Friday, September 23, with exhibition continuing through October.
(1888PressRelease) September 14, 2016 - Guy Lyman Fine Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of New Orleans artist Les Schmidt's latest photographs, beginning with an artist reception on September 23, 2016.
Entitled Highway 90: Beyond the Rigolets, this new body of work features 18 images taken in New Orleans East and near Highway 90 along the Gulf Coast. Melding abstractionism and realism, Schmidt discovers an iconic transcendence in abandoned objects and spaces.
The opening reception will take place at Guy Lyman Fine Art at 3645 Magazine Street on Friday, September 23rd from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by an Art for Art's Sake reception on Saturday, October 1st from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Schmidt has received national attention following his last exhibition, Dorothy Jean, which was held at Guy Lyman Fine Art last October. His work was accepted into the Naples Art Association's nationally recognized Camera USA™ 2016 National Photography Exhibition this past June, and numerous images of Schmidt's have appeared in publications including Abstracted by Mpls Photo Center, ARTifact by Darkroom Gallery, and Taking Pictures: 2016 along with Portraiture: Photography Now, both by Black Box Gallery. Later this year, A. Smith Gallery will include two of Schmidt's photographs in their catalogue Fishing for Iconography 2.
