Guvera.com Develops Distribution Partnership With Indie Country-rock Artist
As One Of The Leading Proponents Of Legally Downloadable Free Music For Established Artists, The Partnership With Leroy Powell Marks Major Stride In Company's Support Of Emerging Acts.
- (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2011 - Being "discovered" sounds like a mythical phrase from the early days of Memphis and the LA strip, but for California to Nashville transplant, guitarist Leroy Powell, this is how fate dealt him a straight flush. Having left Los Angeles and his years with rock outfits, Powell blew into Nashville, changed his course and started gigging with some old pros like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Dickey Betts (formerly of the Allman Brothers), which led to his longtime gig as sideman to Waylon offspring, Shooter Jennings and his .357's. After four albums, Powell left to form his own band, Leroy Powell & the Messengers, a power trio strutting the line between country's hard poetry and rock's crunch.
Nashville still works its magic. And during one of his many gigs the aforementioned fate walked through the doors as Kid Rock and longtime collaborator Sheryl Crow took one look and a few listens and brought Powell into their fold immediately. Flash forward to summer 2011, Leroy Powell & the Messengers will serve as openers for the Rock/Crow co-headlining tour playing sheds and arenas throughout the States.
Hardly a new band, with a handful of albums to his name, his latest, "Atlantis", serves to be his breakout platter. Featuring the 70's psychedelic heavy rock meets outlaw country track, "I Ain't Human", Leroy Powell & the Messengers are now set for bigger roads to travel. One of the vehicles set to help Powell garner a larger audience is Guvera.com - the free and legal download site with over three and half million tracks available. It's the belief and inspiration that Guvera.com found in Powell that not only led the company to picking up Powell's catalog, but also to create an exclusive 4-track EP, "The Snowblind Moonshine Deathride" , a blast of Powell's Fillmore West meets Muscle Shoals soulful bluster. The EP will officially be released by Guvera.com in August 2011. To sweeten the deal, Powell will be offering up the Guvera.com downloadable cards for FREE at his merch-booth during the Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow Tour, as well as at his own gigs, including a big Texas throw down at this year's ACL Festival. Make sure to visit his artist page at (www.guvera.com/leroypowell ) to check out his stellar catalog or his artist site at www.leroypowell.com.
