Nigerian Breweries Plc holds Gulder Five-A-side Soccer Competition media launch on Tuesday June 21, 2011 at the Iganmu Lagos, corporate headquarters of the Nigerian Breweries Plc.
- (1888PressRelease) June 22, 2011 - Arrangements have been concluded for the media launch of the much awaited 2nd annual national Gulder Ultimate Five-A-side Soccer (GUFAS) competition. According to the organizers, the event holds on Tuesday, June 21, 2011at the Iganmu Lagos, corporate headquarters of the Nigerian Breweries Plc.
The launch which has been scheduled for 11am, will officially kick-start the football tournament that is expected to create a perfect platform for talented players across the country to showcase their football skills to both local and international scouts for raw football talents. Those expected at the media launch includes ex Nigerian national team player and present National Under 23 Coach Austin Eguavoen. Others will be top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, the sporting media, brand writers and photo journalists.
This year's edition, according to the organizers, is going to be bigger and better than the maiden edition held last year. The qualifying series, unlike last year, will be played in seven zones in the four geo-political regions of the country.
Qualifying regional matches will be played in such major cities as: NIS Gym Complex Surulere, Lagos; Ijebu-Ode Stadium, Ogun state; Rangers Training Pitch, Enugu; Warri Township/City Stadium, Warri, Delta state; Liberation Practice Pitch, Port Harcourt; FCT Playing Ground, Area 3 Abuja and Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
The Gulder Ultimate Five-A-side soccer is an annual national football tournament that was launched last year by the Nigerian Breweries Plc as a platform to reinforce the Gulder brand affinity with sports, particularly football. It is also meant to validate the premium positioning of the Gulder brand as the ultimate in beer, promoting the ultimate in sports; football which is regarded as the passion of most Nigerians irrespective of age, creed, social class, religion and tribal affiliation.
Registration for participation in the tournament will commence after the media launch through the internet address www.gulder-nigeria.com, and is open to players who are above 18 years and who have not been registered in any of the National Professional and Amateur Leagues organized by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Nigeria Premier League (NPL) board.
