Guilfoil Ballet Theater Announces Nutcracker Schedule for 2011 - Proceeds benefit local charities
The magic of the Holiday season will be showcased at four performances of the Ballet classic "The Nutcracker" at the Historic Fort Harrison in Clearwater and at Gulfport's Catherine A. Hickman Theater.
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) November 03, 2011 - Andrew Guilfoil, the Founder and Creative Director of the Guilfoil Ballet Theater is proud to announce that this year's production of "The Nutcracker" will be performed in two special locations - Gulfport and Clearwater.
Starring Jessica White as Clara and Maja Kikie as the Sugar Plum Fairy, North County residents can join the whole cast on their magical tour of the Land of Sweets at the historic Fort Harrison on Sunday, December 4th at 6pm. South County residents can experience this holiday classic at Gulfport's Catherine A. Hickman Theater at 1:00pm and 6:00pm on December 17th and at 1:00pm on the 18th.
Ticket prices are $25 and $50 for performance at the Fort Harrison and $25 or $35 for those at the Hickman Theater. The performance at the Fort Harrison will benefit the Community Learning Center and Youth For Human Rights. Tickets are $25 and $50 and will include a "Land of Sweets" buffet.
The Nutcracker tells the story of young Clara, who is given a Nutcracker doll as a Christmas gift by the mysterious Herr Drosselmeyer. Clara helps to transform the Nutcracker into a Prince and as a reward, is taken to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Land of Sweets.
The Guilfoil Ballet Theater has staged the Nutcracker since 2003 which was the year the company was founded by Ballet Master Guilfoil. Every year audiences are amazed by the accomplishments through performance which are made by those dancers chosen to dance with GBT. Guilfoil, has directed, choreographed and staged over 30 major productions since 2003 including an annual Nutcracker and several original ballets.
2012 opens the door to a new era for the Guilfoil Ballet Theater as Guilfoil, sets a new contemporary ballet "Transcendent Voyage" which will be presented in February 2012.
The Historic Fort Harrison was originally built in 1926 and is now owned by the Church of Scientology. Fully restored in 2009, the Fort Harrison is a unique event venue available for charitable events.
Gulfport's Catherine A. Hickman Theater is a new state-of-the art performing arts theater with superb acoustics, comfortable seating and an intimate setting that all can enjoy.
