GroupMap Chosen as a Finalist in the oZAPP Awards 2013
The idea generation and decision making platform advances to the next stage of the competition organised by Curtin University of Technology.
- (1888PressRelease) February 14, 2013 - GroupMap hopes to revolutionise group and team collaboration in order to reach an equal consensus faster. As a software as a service (SaaS) app in beta, GroupMap allows all participants to have an equal say by allowing everyone to brainstorm ideas which is then ranked via group engagement. This software has been used in conferences, workshops, team brainstorming sessions, and classrooms.
Gone are the days of reels of paper wasted, ideas from introverts not discussed, and ideas taken flight due to popular or overbearing people. Participants have an equal voice due to anonymous online brainstorming on an issue. Each participant can accept or reject ideas from other participants, thus making is ideal as an unbiased collaborative tool for idea generation. As it is unbiased, it allows groups to reach a genuine consensus faster. Reporting is available for managers, teachers, and facilitators in order to take action.
GroupMap co-founders Jeremy Lu and Brad Ward, who made it into the top five, said the opportunity to meet people from outside of Australia without leaving their home city was the greatest benefit of the awards. "Our goal is to show folks that you can really start up from anywhere and that if you apply yourself you can certainly achieve some amazing things," Mr Lu said.
GroupMap had become a powerful tool for work groups trying to reach consensus, he said.
The oZAPP competition offers $300,000 worth of prizes. The prizes includes a USD$100,000 convertible note from Qualcomm, co-working packages, commercialisation and mentorship advice. A sponsored trip to meet with top Venture Capitalists from the Silicon Valley is also up for grabs.
This is the 3rd year that the oZAPP competition has been held. This year, the final round of finalists were notified in early February, and the finalists will be announced during the oZAPP event taking place on February 17-18.
