- (1888PressRelease) June 17, 2011 - Sahara Group has stepped into the arena of hotels and hospitality after acquiring the once home of Duke of Westminster Royal Bank of Scotland, 'Grosvenor House' in exchange of 470 million pound. The very Indian, Subrata Roy, says that the taken step would enhance its international exposure since this property located at upscale park lane in London would turn out to be a gigantic investment as London will be holding Olympics 2012.
Subrata Roy also plans to add restaurants, night club, business centre and many more amenities to the five-star hotel which already possesses 420 rooms, 74 suites and 27 meeting rooms. The momentous Grosvenor house which will now be jointly run by Sahara Group and Marriott International had been paid regular visits by royalty, celebrities and business leaders since its very inauguration in 1929.
RBS has been trying to offload the site for three years but finally it is Sahara Group who stamped the 'bought' seal on the hotel. It looks like Sahara is going to take a high take-off in the international hotels market.
