Grillers Rejoice: National Turkey Federation Launches Turkey Meatballs Recipe Video

Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) June 08, 2011 - The National Turkey Federation (NTF) is celebrating "June is Turkey Lovers'® Month" with its newest recipe video that features a popular outdoor pastime complete with "the perfect protein®" - turkey. The latest addition to NTF's cooking video library includes Chef Philip Anderson, director of fresh foods at Harris Teeter supermarket, grilling up turkey meatballs.

"Turkey on the grill is a convenient way to enjoy tasty meals," said Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF's vice president of marketing and communications. "Anderson's recipe takes advantage of the variety of turkey products available in local grocery stores by utilizing both ground turkey and Italian turkey sausage."

In the video, Anderson mixes together a pound of ground turkey and a pound of Italian turkey sausage. The turkey mixture is then seasoned with garlic, pesto, sundried tomatoes, Reggiano Parmesan cheese and Panko breadcrumbs. Once all the ingredients are mixed together, Anderson makes four-ounce to five-ounce turkey meatballs. The meatballs are then grilled until their internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F as indicated on a meat thermometer.

Anderson oversees Harris Teeter's stores that feature freshly prepared foods and pastries by culinary trained talent. The supermarket chain operates in eight states ranging from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia to Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, and Delaware, as well as the District of Columbia.
