- Baltimore, MD (1888PressRelease) February 09, 2013 - greeNEWit, an organization founded to help society build more sustainable communities and better economies through energy efficiency and conserving the use of natural resources, will present a poster board session at the Maryland Association for Environmental & Outdoor Education (MAEOE) 2013 Annual Conference February 8th and 9th, 2013. More than 600 educators will be attending the event at the newly remodeled Princess Royale in Ocean City, Maryland. The theme of the event is to educate, engage and energize while understanding the natural world.
MAEOE administers the Maryland Green School program, and all schools are certified through MAEOE. Schools interested in receiving the award complete an application that documents the school's program and activities during a two-year period. A panel reviews the applications and an award celebration is held in the spring.
greeNEWit's involvement comes as a result of providing energy education free in public schools in Maryland. The greeNEWit presentation at the 2013 Annual Conference will feature information on the OUR (Ownership, Understanding and Responsibility) Schools Program and how to take action in the form of energy efficiency by participating in an energy savings incentive. greeNEWit has also developed a four-part STEM curriculum suited for primary grades. Schools who participate can include greeNEWit's program as a way to assist in the Green School certification or re-certification process.
Participants who attend greeNEWit's poster board session at the conference will gain an understanding of energy efficiency and how it pays back through energy savings, learn how to use utility incentives to save energy through energy efficiency and determine innovative ways your school can become green certified.
