The SEDC's annual Communication Awards recognize and showcase the leading marketing work completed by economic development professionals throughout the South. Winning campaigns demonstrate creativity, strong messaging and effectiveness at reaching their target audiences. The "Work in the Triangle" campaign was recognized at SEDC's 2013 Annual Conference held at the Hyatt Regency in Tulsa, Okla. on Sunday, Aug. 4 through Tuesday, Aug. 6. This award recognition clearly reflects the campaign's success in promoting the economic development of the Triangle by supporting existing talent and recruiting new talent to help our region continue to grow and flourish.
"Work in the Triangle" exceeds what other talent initiatives in the country have done with big, bold ideas for how to attract talent under the umbrella of a strategic, integrated marketing and communications campaign. It draws on other communities' best practices and incorporates the best elements of talent attraction campaigns and sites across the country to create something wholly new, different and innovative. With a key objective to position and market the Research Triangle region as one of the top destinations for talented professionals to relocate from across the country and around the world, the "Work in the Triangle, Smarter From Any Angle" campaign works closely with an array of industry organizations to retain, cultivate and replenish an important asset - people - in order for the region to flourish in the decades to come.
Since rolling out with the campaign in May 2012, "Work in the Triangle, Smarter From Any Angle" has been the Triangle's go-to resource for area employment opportunities, actively engaged with local companies and recruiters to promote and ultimately fill open positions by attracting new talent. As the campaign has worked to raise awareness for the region and its numerous opportunities, its website portal and other digital communication channels have received high levels of engagement, reaching 16,000 unique website visitors, more than 31,000 total website visits, 1,500 YouTube video views, more than 2,400 new Twitter followers and 770 email subscribers. Sixty Triangle professionals have created profiles on the unique "Work in the Triangle: What's Your Angle" network, and the initiative has received 364 Facebook fans on its official account page.
