Grammy Winning, Twice Oscar Nominated Singer/Songwriter Siedah Garrett Releases New Michael Jackson Tribute Song "Keep On Lovin' You"
Garrett Duetted With Jackson On "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" And Co-wrote "Man In The Mirror".
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2012 - Grammy Winning and twice Academy Award Nominated singer/songwriter Siedah Garrett releases her new single, "Keep On Lovin' You," which is both a tribute to her friend and mentor Michael Jackson and her answer to their 1987 #1 world wide smash, " I Just Can't Stop Loving You." The single, now comes just as Jackson's monumental album Bad is re-released on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. "When Michael and I recorded and performed our duet together, it always felt as if he were singing it just for me. I wanted to write an answer, a sort of love letter back to him, that tells the story of how we first met, and how amazing it was to be in his presence and be able to interact with him creatively over the years. This new song expresses my deepest feelings for him, and appreciation for all the personal attention and unbelievable opportunities he afforded me," said Garrett.
"Keep On Lovin' You" was co-written and produced by Dapo Torimiro, who has written or produced for Justin Bieber, Brandy and John Legend, to name a few. It was mixed by Jackson's favorite engineer Bruce Swedien, who also mixed the duet. Garrett recently completed a new music video for the single, directed by Belma Johnson, which will soon be available on YouTube. After a teaser clip of Siedah writing the single was posted online, Garrett is pleased that MJ fans around the world have already responded with incredibly positive feedback. The single will serve as the first release from Garrett's upcoming album Look Inside Myself, which is slated for release later this year.
Garrett will be prominently featured in Spike Lee's forthcoming documentary BAD25, having duetted with MJ on "IJCSLY", and having co-written it's classic hit, "Man In The Mirror", the album's record 5th #1 global smash. She subsequently went on to tour with Jackson for almost two years on his Dangerous World Tour. Garrett, who's credits as a songwriter include recordings by a Who's Who of superstar artists, remains a frequent collaborator with Quincy Jones. She won the Grammy Award and was Oscar nominated for co-writing "Love You, I Do" for Jennifer Hudson from the Dreamgirls soundtrack, and just this year was again nominated for an Academy Award for her work on the song "Real In Rio", co-written with Sergio Mendes, for the animated feature film Rio.
