Grace Centers Of Hope Hosts 6th Annual "Men On A Mission" Softball Tournament In Rochester Hills

  • Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) July 16, 2013 - Grace Centers of Hope, one of the largest homeless shelters in southeast Michigan, will host the 6th Annual "Men on a Mission" Softball Tournament beginning at 6 p.m., Friday, July 26 through Saturday, July 27 at Borden Park, 1400 E. Hamlin Rd., Rochester Hills.

    Proceeds will support "Men on a Mission," a program that pairs graduates of the Life Skills Program with newcomers to Grace Centers of Hope. Mentors help guide new participants as they work to recover from homelessness and addiction. Additionally, "Men on Mission" mentors receive resources, including funds for college tuition or vocational training, books, transportation, school supplies and other related expenses, to help them further their education and skills.

    "The 'Men on a Mission' Softball Tournament is a great opportunity for sports fans to enjoy a fun weekend of friendly competition in the sun, while helping a wonderful cause," said Darin Weiss, chief operating officer of Grace Centers of Hope. "We are grateful for the many participants and sponsors who come out each year to support Grace Centers of Hope and program participants."

    The softball tournament is open to 28 men's teams Classes C and D or below, with a maximum of 14 players on each team. The cost per team is $350, and teams must register by July 15 online or by phone. Each tournament participant will receive a free t-shirt the day of the event.
