In order to identify potential candidates for their rankings, Global Gurus first sends emails to over 22,000 businesspeople to get their input on influential contributors in their fields.

From those recommendations, they create a shortlist of 60 names. After some initial internet research about each candidate, they request voting from the same businesspeople to come up with the top 30 award recipients in each category.
While public opinion and voting play a part in the decision criteria, other factors measured by the committee factor in as well.
The ideas the candidates put forward are practical, effective, and embraced by their respective communities.
Their presentation styles are engaging and motivating, encouraging those they lead to learn and implement their ideas.
They have what Global Gurus defines as the “Guru factor,” a somewhat intangible quality that makes Gurus stand out in their field and be recognized as both leaders of people and servants of those they lead.
They have published authors, having written and sold at least two works.
