Gold's rally strengthens further, breaking through $1750 an ounce.
(1888PressRelease) February 03, 2012 - MIAMI, FL - Gold's rally certainly did not end at the end of January but has gone on to even greater heights, Wednesday, breaking through $1750 in intra-day trading. Gold experienced the best January for over 30 years and was further supported, going into February, by positive economic data from Germany, which also served to boost the euro.
A rally as strong as gold's present one has been is likely to experience a correction in the near term. Profit taking will almost certainly occur and some investors, having bought gold at previous highs last year, will be waiting to sell as soon as gold reaches the price at which they purchased it. These sales are likely to push down the price - briefly. Any such correction, given the current situation, should be grabbed with both hands as a buying opportunity.
As strong as gold's rally has been, it has been outpaced by silver; the white metal has gained more than 20% since December and many market analysts predict a meteoric rise for silver this year.
"All the precious metals have made a strong start to the year," says Bill Hionas of Pan American Metals of Miami. "We are seeing a renewal of investor confidence and that, coupled with more encouraging economic data, is benefiting all the metals; platinum and palladium are also experiencing gains due to increased industrial demand."
