Global XTL Summit to Explore Opportunities in North America
The World XTL12 Summit will take place between the 22-23 May 2012 at The Waldorf Hilton, London UK and will focus on the opportunities in North America.
- (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2011 - In November 2011 Royal Dutch Shell Plc inaugurated the world's largest gas-to-liquids plant in Qatar, the $18.5 billion Pearl GTL project developed as a joint venture with state-owned Qatar Petroleum will produce approximately 260,000 b/d of oil equivalent of hydrocarbon products, including 140,000 b/d of liquid petroleum fuels and lubricants by mid 2012.
Shell is now carrying out early feasibility studies for its next GTL project in North America, Andrew Brown, Executive Vice President stated "the possibility of a project in the US would come with the assumption that the gas price is going to remain relatively low and are long-term projects and if we were ever going to take a position in the US we would have to have some confidence in long-term oil and gas prices in the US"
Andrew Brown also stated "Shell is now looking to further mature the technology it uses to build its GTL plants, noting that the technology available today is significantly better than that applied to the Pearl project in terms of reduced foot print and energy efficiency."
The World XTL12 Summit will take place between the 22-23 May 2012 at The Waldorf Hilton, London UK and will focus on the opportunities in North America, the impact of XTL in North America, the shale gas revolution, the market fundamentals of GTL and how GTL can change the model of downstream business for gas companies.
The summit will also feature a technology showcase, showcasing a selection of breakthrough technologies which are pushing the boundaries in the XTL sector and improving XTL project economics and efficiency.
Key support to date for this international summit includes; The CWC International XTL Steering committee, Oryx GTL, GTL.F1 and Compact GTL.
